Jimmy Voegeli - Singer/Songwriter, Keyboardist, Band Leader
Led by singer/songwriter and keyboardist, Jimmy Voegeli, a UW-Madison CALS alum. During the day Jimmy helps out on his family's sixth-generation dairy farm. They till 1,500 acres of crop land, robotically milk 130 purebred Brown Swiss dairy cows; and export embryos, bull semen, and live animals all over the world! They show and exhibit dairy cattle throughout the states. His grandfather, father, and brother are world-renowned dairy geneticists, selling their genetics to hundreds of countries.
Jimmy grew up in a house constantly filled with music and singing – his parents met at one of his father’s gigs. He played the piano, yet struggled through piano lessons, then flunked high school band on trumpet. Jimmy made that report card the cover of his first solo album: “F” is for Blues,” featuring Grammy-winning blues-man Billy Flynn on guitar; Clyde Stubblefield, James Brown’s original funky drummer; and his inspiring tough-love band teacher, Mike Korth, on trombone.
A Hammond Organ Artist, Jimmy's won MAMA (Madison Area Music Award) awards for "Keyboardist of the Year" in 2010, 2012, 2015; “Organist of the Year” in 2021 & 2022 and MAMA Hall of Fame Class “Piano”. Perry Weber - Guitars, Singer/Songwriter
Perry Weber certainly joins the band with lots of blues experience. He is steeped in Chicago Blues and delivers it with great energy.
Here's Perry in his own words:
"I was lucky to have great friends and mentors when I was starting out playing blues. Two guys stand out among them all: Bryan Lee and Luther Allison. Every night of the week one of them would be in town somewhere, so I would go see them. They were very good to me, always taking time with me.
Next came help from Madison Slim, Willie 'Big Eyes' Smith, Calvin Jones and my biggest and most important mentor, Jim Liban. So much thanks goes to Hubert Sumlin and his wife Bea Sumlin, for all the years as an adopted son. Thanks, too, to Barrel House Chuck, Billy Flynn and Piano Willie. There are so many, I can't name them all!
Bands I've been in include Cadillac Pete and the Kool Breeze, The Complainer's, The Jim Liban Blues Combo, Perry Weber and the Wonder Rods, The Jim Liban Trio, Perry Weber and The Devilles, off and on work with Barrel House Chuck and the Blue Lites, The Bill Lupkin Band, The Willie Big Eye's Smith Band, Madison Slim and the Nite Crawlers, The Piano Willie Band.

Johnny Wartenweiler - Electric and Upright Bass
A two-time Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Bassist of the Year nominee, and winner of the 2014 Madison Area Music Awards (MAMA) Bassist of the Year, Johnny Wartenweiler has toured North America, Europe, and the Caribbean.
Johnny prefers a laid back style, developing the pocket and pushing or pulling the beat as needed to create the best groove possible. His sparse playing with percussive, sometimes ferocious attack along with subtle nuance keeps listeners on their toes. Johnny cites Wille Dixon, James Jamerson, Duck Dunn and T-Bone Wolk as influences.
A favorite of the many drummers he has worked with, Johnny relates a story about Funk Master Clyde Stubblefield:
"I'm playing with an icon; I mean James Brown's drummer! About the second song in, he (Clyde) lights me up with a fill, the likes of which I'd never heard - I mean, he's back on the one while I'm still thinking about what he was doing on the three. We settled in and had a great show. Afterwards I introduced him to my kids, and he turned to them and says, 'your Dad's a funky man’!'"
...'Nuff said!
Pete Ross - Tenor & Alto Saxophones, Clarinet
Saxophonist Pete Ross is a Wisconsin native and has been active as both a performer and teacher for the past twelve years. Joe Goltz
Joe began playing trombone at age 10 in the public school band program in Monroe, Wisconsin, but it was while at college at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville that Joe met the members of Youngblood Brass Band, by whom he was introduced to the fiery, audacious New Orleans brass band style. Two decades of playing brass band music enabled Joe to bring all of his musical interests to the plate to create a unique blend of jazz, funk, rhythm & blues, punk, hip-hop, soul, and ska influences in his sound. Joe also developed his sound with his bands Mama Digdown’s Brass Band, The Extra Crispy Brass Band, High-Hat Second Line, and District Brass (in High-Hat Second Line and District Brass, Joe fronted the band and sang lead vocals)
From the streets to stages and studios; Joe’s done it all: festivals, clubs, weddings, burlesque shows, corporate events, second lines, cocktail parties, presidential rallies, throwing down in the street all the way to world tours.
Recently, Joe recorded and performed with Washington D.C.'s award-winning funk and soul outfit AZTEC SUN and performed on their album “In The Name Of Everyone” produced, and mixed, by soul sultan Alan Evans (Soulive/Matador!
