Missouri and The Instamatics: A Rock Tribute to the Legacy of Ron West

Missouri and The Instamatics: A Rock Tribute to the Legacy of Ron West
Under 21 with Guardian

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT WE MOURN THE LOSS OF RON WEST. HE WAS THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND THE BAND MISSOURI. HE WAS A GREAT SINGER, SONGWRITER, GUITARIST, AND FRIEND. HIS UNIQUE TALENTS WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. WE SEND OUR SINCEREST CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY. WE ARE WISHING THEM PEACE AND COMFORT IN THIS DIFFICULT TIME.

MISSOURI

Originally formed by singer songwriter Ron West from Kansas City, MO in 1976. The debut album was released in August 1977 on Panama Records. The bands lineup was Ron West guitar / vocals, Bill Larson drums, Alan Cohen bass, Lane Turner lead guitar. Randall Platt joined the band on keyboards just after completion of the album. Soon after its release the album was listed on Billboards recommended album page. The album received strong midwest airplay primarily based on the song "Movin On". The band toured heavily in support of the album opening shows for Golden Earring, Scorpions, Blackfoot, Sammy Hagar, Nazareth, Molly Hatchet, REO Speedwagon, Blackfoot, Rush, Blue Oyster Cult, Van Halen, Jefferson Starship, and Ted Nugent, just to name a few. Missouri released a second album on Polydor records "Welcome Two Missouri" in 1979 which also included a re recorded version of "Movin on" among other new tunes. The second albums sales were impressive but Polydor did not renew the contract due to changing musical tastes of the era. VNR records later released a collection of Missouri songs called "The Best Of Missouri" in CD form.

Current Band Members:
Bill Larson - Drums
Lane Turner - Guitar
Dean "Deano" Foltz - Bass, Keys and Vocals
