Buffalo Nichols is the stage name of American singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Carl Nichols, known for his contemporary blues music. Born in Houston and raised in Milwaukee, Nichols is based in Austin and uses traditional blues to explore modern societal issues, including systemic racism. After early musical explorations, he signed with Fat Possum Records in 2020, releasing his self-titled debut in 2021 and The Fatalist in 2023. His music features deep vocals and acoustic slide guitar, often with synth or hip-hop elements.
